Some recent shopping purchases

I’ve been a bit naughty recently on the shopping front and have been buying myself some new pieces for my winter wardrobe. Check out my recent shopping purchases below – seems I am loving a bit of monochrome at the moment!

1. Oversized Low V Neck Jumper by H&M (LINK) – I can’t get enough of this tennis/cricket knit and I have received so many lovely comments on it when I’m wearing it. I saw the Rag & Bone version a few months ago and so when I saw this in H&M I was stoked to score it at a fraction of the cost of the designer version. Just to note that I got XS and it’s still pretty oversized on me.

Yellow jeans

I am a big fan of coloured denim, especially in summer! So when I spotted these bright yellow jeans at ZARA recently, I knew they had my name written all over them. Wearing yellow always makes me happy and feel like a little ray of sunshine. This is me out in Notting Hill recently on a gorgeous day feeling very bright :)

ZARA Yellow Statement Earrings

When it comes to accessories I think ZARA does some of the best on the high street. I always find myself tempted and distracted by the statement necklaces, earrings and many gorgeous scarves that they (cleverly) have on display near the counter. I recently did a quick grab & buy with these stunning yellow statement earrings – I mean how could I resist?

I paired my ZARA yellow and white long drop earrings with a simple white dress shirt, blue distressed jeans and another pop of yellow with my favourite neon yellow heels (also from ZARA – last season).

Are you as much of a lover of the ZARA accessories section as I am? Currently I am lusting after these gorgeous pieces: link, link and link. Oh oh! ;)

Fall/Winter 2013: Houndstooth Trend

It’s an oldie but a goodie; yes houndstooth is back and it’s one of the big fashion trends this winter. It is such a classic print and it proves to be as chic now as it was years ago. Originating from Scotland around the 1800’s it was actually Christian Dior in the 50’s who coined it as ‘houndstooth’ and the pattern was very much symbolic of well-tailored aristocracy and luxury. Over the years the print has reappeared every era and today it comes in the traditional style but also with more contemporary designs and experimental colours.  This winter the houndstooth print can be seen everywhere from full print dresses to blazers, trousers, bags, scarves and even heels.

Houndstooth is very versatile because you can wear it to the office or can wear it on a night out. Plus you can’t really ever go wrong with classic black and white! You can wear it as an accent piece or be bold and rock the print head to toe!  But the safest way to wear this trend is to keep it simple or perhaps try it with a red lip for a chic sophisticated look?

The ZARA sale

YES!! Hooray, it is here again. The ZARA sale officially kicked off in the UK  last Friday. So on my day off today (between starting my new job) I couldn’t help popping by my local ZARA store to see if I could score up any lovely bargains. With the ZARA sale you always have to be in quick because the best pieces and sizes sell out super fast!

After trying on quite a few bits and pieces I decided to get these items….

White ruched sleeve top, now £5.99
Orange open back dress (link), now £29.99
Classic striped T-shirt (link), now £9.99

And then I spotted these shoes!! I’d been lusting after some ankle strap heels for a while now, but I find most ZARA shoes ridiculously high so I’d resisted to buy a pair, until now..

Recent retail therapy: H&M & ZARA purchases

Over the weekend I indulged in some retail therapy after having not felt very well the last few days. It’s not like I really needed any of these items, but hey when you find some great buys and end up spending no more than £25.99 per item it’s allowed right?

These are the purchases I made at H&M and ZARA.

Recent purchases ZARA & HM

White Blazer £24.99 (link) // Black leather look skirt £19.99
Turquoise sleeveless shift dress £25.99 (link) //White tulip skirt £25.99 (link)
Light orange and white combination strappy top £22.99 (link)

I’ve wanted a white blazer for ages and this one from H&M was a steal at that price. I loved its tuxedo style neckline and I will get so much wear out of it this summer; pairing it with dresses, jeans, shorts and skirts for both casual and dressy looks. Turquoise is one of my favourite colours so I felt this shift dress would add a nice pop of colour to my office wardrobe! Or add some fun heels or a bold statement necklace for a bright summer’s evening outfit.

What do you think of my recent purchases – such bargains don’t you think? Plus all items are pretty classic which makes them easy to combine with other items from my wardrobe for numerous stylish looks. Do you agree that both ZARA and H&M are stocked with great collections at the moment? Must try avoid that danger zone!! ;)

Neon Coral Outfit of the Day

Summer in the UK doesn’t always mean hot amazing weather; pretty much as long as the sun is out and our jackets can stay at home we are all very happy people! This is a recent outfit of the day when the sun was shining in London and we all pretended for it to be summer time, but when really it was only about 15 degrees outside.

Therefore ‘summer’ here still means jumper-weather and that’s why I think a bright knit is a wardrobe staple for this time of the year. I already love my neon lime/yellow knit from ZARA (as seen here) so when I spotted this neon coral version recently I just couldn’t help myself. Bright colours just make me smile – what’s not to love?!
