Wearing a head to toe white outfit is proving to be a huge trend for this spring and summer. White featured heavily on the SS15 catwalks last year and it’s now made its way to the streets and shops. Wearing head to toe white doesn’t need to mean beachwear or casual wear. I think an all-white outfit makes for a fresh, modern and chic look. You can go for delicate, feminine white looks with lace or silk or rock a more modern look with structured and minimalistic pieces.
I recently got a new white jumper from ASOS (link) and since I am loving the white-on-white trend, I decided to add my white namesake ‘The Roz’ statement necklace (as seen here). I am definitely liking this ‘tres chic’ cropped jumper and necklace combination, are you?
Every year since 1990, the Pantone Color Institute has nominated a Colour of the Year, forecasting which specific hue designers and consumers will all supposedly be using, wearing, and buying for the following 12 months. Recently, Pantone announced that the 2015 Color of the Year is Marsala which is described as a ‘naturally robust and earthy red”.
I’ve been a bit naughty recently on the shopping front and have been buying myself some new pieces for my winter wardrobe. Check out my recent shopping purchases below – seems I am loving a bit of monochrome at the moment!
1. Oversized Low V Neck Jumper by H&M (LINK) – I can’t get enough of this tennis/cricket knit and I have received so many lovely comments on it when I’m wearing it. I saw the Rag & Bone version a few months ago and so when I saw this in H&M I was stoked to score it at a fraction of the cost of the designer version. Just to note that I got XS and it’s still pretty oversized on me.
Can you believe it’s only 3 ½ weeks until Christmas?! Now, I love many things about Christmas – the festive atmosphere everywhere, Christmas trees and all the twinkling lights, mulled wine served in pubs, pretty ice-skating ranks, candles and fireplaces, eating lots of delicious food and of course having a few days off to spend time with family and loved ones. However, one thing I am not a big fan of is Christmas shopping. I am quite lucky in a way that with my family we don’t really celebrate Christmas with presents, because in the Netherlands we give presents at Saint Nicholas (5 Dec) but I will usually still try and get some bits and pieces for family or friends around the holidays.
Now don’t get my wrong, I totally looooove shopping. But Christmas shopping is another story. I am more a person that will buy people gifts here and there when I see something I think they’d love. But when all of a sudden the pressure is on to buy presents, I freeze and can never find anything I like. Plus then there’s the fact of hundreds and thousands of other people in the shops around me that are trying to do the same thing and the Christmas crowds really drive me bonkers.
So when it comes to buying gifts around Christmas time, I tend to stick to the stuff I know and love myself, which is FOOD! Because everyone loves eating and drinking and it’s an easy and great way to treat people in the festive season. I often bake my own treats to giveaway plus another lovely gift idea is a foodie hamper. You can put your own together by filling up a cute bowl or basket with homemade or store bought treats, or just buy ready-made hampers from a store (or online, even better to avoid the crowds).
The lovely people at Harvey Nichols got me all in the Christmas spirit this week by sending me one of their Christmas Countdown Hampers as a gift! Check out my gorgeous hamper. It definitely brought a HUGE smile to my face, so it’s bound to do that to anyone else who receives a hamper like this!
Christmas Countdown Hamper Contents: Marc de Champagne Christmas Pudding // Brandy Butter // Cranberry Sauce with Burgundy // Mint Jelly // Dark Chocolate Bar Collection Box // English Breakfast Tea x 50 // Breakfast Blend Ground Coffee // Plain Chocolate Covered Toffee // Dark Chocolate Crunch Biscuits // Rouge 2012 // Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc 2012 (RRP £100 – link)
Harvey Nichols actually have quite a wide range of Christmas Hampers on offer this season, which means there’s pretty much a hamper for every budget and taste. However if you’re thinking of maybe baking some homemade gifts, then maybe the below will give you some inspiration. These are some of the goodies I’ve made over the holidays in the last few years…
Chocolate Crinkle Cookies (LINK for recipe). These are the best cookies ever, they have a soft-brownie like consistency and don’t they look super festive? // Christmas biscotti with cranberries and pistachios and white chocolate (LINK for recipe) // Dutch ‘Kerstkransjes’ – cute christmas cookies with flaked almonds or drizzled in chocolate (LINK for recipe) // Peppermint Bark – super simple to make with white and dark chocolate + christmas candy canes (LINK for recipe).
Cute white or milk chocolate stars with dried cranberries and pistachios (LINK for recipe) // Salted Caramel Chocolate Crinkle Cookies – similar to the other crinkle cookies but this time stuffed with chocolate rolo’s and sea salt, yummmm (LINK for recipe) // White chocolate Rocky Road with cranberries and pistachios, haha can you spot a christmas theme here? (LINK for recipe) // Chocolate Fruit and Nut Bark – super simple and you can add anything you like, a real winner! (LINK for recipe).
Have you started your Christmas shopping yet, or do you ‘hate’ it as much as I do…which means you’re still procrastinating? ;)
One of my new favourite necklaces at the moment is this super sparkly crystal wreath choker necklace! Initially it might seem like quite a fancy piece that needs to be worn with an evening dress or ball gown, but I actually really like dressing it down with a t-shirt or jumper for a more casual look. Or just add it to any simple little dress, like this floral number for some added oomph to your look. It’s so elegant and fun for day or night.

Even though it feels like summer has already finished in London I am seriously hoping that we’ll still get some hot and sunny weather for the next few weeks before autumn officially arrives. SimplyBe is currently running a campaign about ‘summer confidence’ and how to feel fab when at the beach or soaking up the rays by the pool. They did a survey in the UK and found for example that 70% of women feel self-conscious about their tummy whilst on holiday, and 18% of women admitted to crash dieting and doing extra exercise prior to their break. Something we all can relate to right? Below are some interesting statistics and tips on how to feel confident and fabulous this summer.
The theme behind the info-graphic is summer holiday confidence. The tips cover swimwear, beauty and lifestyle as well as providing statistical insights into women’s holiday confidence. At Simply Be, we believe that every woman should love their body just the way it is; these secrets give advice on how to feel fantastic on and off the beach. The data, which was gathered from a survey of 1000 UK women, provides added information on how women feel on holiday in terms of body confidence and the measures they take to make themselves feel more confident.
Have you still got a beach/summer holidays planned this summer? I don’t unfortunately so am crossing my fingers and toes that there are still some summer days to come in London as my Turkey holiday tan is fading fast…
