Eau de Cartier Zeste de Soleil

While I’ve been on holiday I’ve been loving the Eau de Cartier Zeste de Soleil fragrance. It’s pretty much like summer in a bottle!

Sparkling with luscious, sun-kissed freshness, the new Eau de Cartier has been infused with a note of freshly pressed passion fruit. Combined with a zesty hint of mint like a summer breeze, Zeste de Soleil is a natural and exotic interpretation of the original Eau.

The passion fruit smells delicious and fresh and it dries down to a nice sunny, juicy tropical smell. I’m used to wearing more Eau de Perfums these days however so do find the Eau de Cartier Zeste de Soleil doesn’t last as long as I would like. But for days on the beach or a summery evening out that doesn’t matter too much – as it’s just a nice fresh and summery added touch! Also, I love that the bottle can twist close for ease of travel – an added bonus!

Cartier Eau de Cartier Zeste de Soleil is available in 50, 100 and 200 ml Eau de Toilette. Have you tried this fragrance before or what perfume are you loving this summer?

Fake Bake 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid

Summer is finally here! But because I’ve been so busy at work, I haven’t had a holiday since Christmas which unfortunately means I am super (pasty legs) white….not a good look! The exciting thing is however, is that I am going on holiday today!! I am escaping for a week of relaxing to the italian Tuscan countryside with my parents. I can’t wait to not look at any work emails but instead explore beautiful italian towns, eat lots of delicious food, soak up the sun and read my book.

To prepare myself for this holiday, one of the things on my check list was ‘get a tan’. Being a busy girl, and because I am live in the UK, it means that for the most part I turn to fake tan in order to get my golden glow. I’ve spoken on the blog here before about some of my go-to tanning products, for example read here, here and here.

But a while ago, a girl at my office was telling me about this 60 minute fake tan product she’d been using (which looked fab on her) so I was very intrigued to give it a go. I have to say I was impressed so have used it a few times already for my tanning-fix. So let me tell you about Fake Bake 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid.

What they say: “The longest lasting, most natural looking, ultimate fake tan just got even FASTER! A revolutionary, express, self tan liquid which develops into a beautiful, natural looking tan in 60 minutes. Fake Bake 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid (236ml) is easy to apply with the “shows where it goes” colour guide, the tanning agents – dihydroxyacetone and erythulose are activated upon contact with the skin.”

Inside the box you get an easy to follow instructions booklet, an excellent mitt, a set of gloves a spray pump and of course, the bottle of self tanning liquid.

Preparation for applying this tan is the same with any false tan- shave and exfoliate at least 24 hours before application and apply an oil free moisturisers to especially dry areas before use. When you are ready to start tanning, put on the latex gloves and  use the tanning mitt. The pink mitt actually has two different sides to it – white for exfoliating to remove dead skin cells to create an even surface on the skin prior to the application of the self tan, and the soft pink can then be used when the skin is dry to gently buff away any excess false tan from the skin to ensure you get a streak free finish. You can either spray the Fake Bak 60 Minute Self-Tan Liquid directly onto the skin or spray the tan onto the mitt first and then rub the mitt onto your skin. I prefer the latter.

The Fake Bake 60 Minutes Self Tan has a lovely brown colour that shows you exactly where the product is going on your skin.  The colour that it leaves, as can be seen below, is very close to the colour that the tan actually develops into when left on the skin for an hour.  Fake Bake guidelines state how long to leave the tan developing for: 1 hour- a beautiful golden tan, 2 hours- a bronzed tan or 3 hours- a dark tan. Then just wash off the tan in the shower. In the beginning I was convinced that my fake tan was completely washing off in the shower but nope – you emerge tanned and I think the colour continues to develop a tiny bit more once washed off.

I will definitely continue to use this fake tan. Not only do I like the natural tan it gives but especially because it’s great when you don’t have much time to bronze up – for example for a spontaneous night out.

You can buy the Fake Bake 60 Minutes Self Tan direct from the Fake Bake website for £24.95 here, or from Feel Unique for a little cheaper. What’s your favourite fake tan?

Anyway I am all (tanned) and ready for my holiday now so it might be a little bit more quiet on the blog next week. But you can follow me on Instagram HERE to keep up with some of my italian adventures. Ciao!

Avon Luxe Couture Creme Lipsticks

Back in October 2013, Avon launched a new luxurious collection to their makeup range. Avon Luxe offers a range of mascaras, liquid eyeliners, skin-matching foundations, eyeshadows and lip glosses and lipsticks. The Luxe collection is about quality products from only £6!

Let’s have a quick look at the Avon Luxe Couture Creme Lipsticks shall we? They silk-infused, packed with pigment (for excellent coverage), nicely moisturising and with a little hint of shine in each of the 8 shades to deliver a ‘plumping’ appearance. Here are three lovely lovely shades from the Avon Luxe Couture Creme Lipstick collection; Designer Red, Pink Ruffles & Polished Rose.

Isn’t the packaging nice? Designer Red is a very true vibrant red and would suit people with most skin colouring and perfect for a night out. Pink ruffles is a very bright watermelon pink shade and Polished Rose is a shimmery rose shade with a hint of coral and a pearlescent finish

Overall I have been quite impressed with these lipsticks. The formula is very creamy and gives your lips a lovely pigmented cover with a slight shine whilst also keeping your lips from drying out.

UK readers can find Avon Luxe Couture Creme Lipsticks at www.avonshop.co.uk for £9.50, link to buy here.
Have you ever tried any Avon lip products before?

Clinique Even Better Eyes

Most of the time we can all do with a little ‘awaking’ fix and my go-to for that would be Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Concealer. Note, this is not a concealer but more an eye-cream that has the power to brighten the appearance of the entire eye area. Plumping hydration makes thin eye-area skin appear less transparent and the cooling massage tip refreshes tired-looking eyes.

The key ingredients in Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector are Vitamin C and Mulberry Root works to help minimise the appearance of darkness. Caffiene and Green Tea Extract helps soothe and calm irritation from environmental  aggressors and protect against oxidative damage.

I use this in the morning by gently massaging the cooling tip across the undereye area. You don’t need a lot of product and upon application the area underneath my eyes looks brighter, less puffy and feels refreshed.

I still use concealer on top to conceal my dark circles as part of my makeup routine because this is more a tinted moisturiser like formula but if you use Clinique Even Better Eyes regularly it promises to reduce dark circles by 30% in 12 weeks.

Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector is available at Clinique counters nationwide and retails at £29 (link). Have you tried this product yet or what do you like using to give you ‘even better’ eyes?

Smashbox Full Exposure Palette

When it comes to beauty-kit must haves, I’d say a great nude eyeshadow palette is pretty essential. As promised a while back, today I will review a new favourite of mine; the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette. This palette was launched at the end of 2013 and has been flying off the shelves ever since and I can understand why.

The Smashbox Full Exposure Palette is great because it contains fourteen eyeshadow shades that are half matte and half shimmers – that range  from nudes and highlights, to browns and blacks. Smashbox Full Exposure Eyeshadow Palette also features a mirror (handy!) and a full sized duo ended brush. There’s a fluffy end perfect for blending matte shades and a flat end to easily lay down the shimmer shades without sparkle overload. Plus, it’s double-sided with black bristles on one side and white on the other, so you’ll never accidentally dip a light shade into a dark shade.

Plus it also comes with a step by step guide to make the most of your eye shape and a small tube of Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara (which I love and has become my go-to mascara at the moment!)

Let’s take a closer look at this beauty of a palette shall we?

20140413 180924 Smashbox Full Exposure Palette 20140413 180954 Smashbox Full Exposure Palette 20140413 180939 Smashbox Full Exposure Palette

The top row has the pretty eye-catching shimmery shades (S1-S7): S1 - Chocolate Brown with Golden Pearl // S2 - Deep Golden Brown with Gold Pearl // S3 - Soft Gold with Gold and Silver Pearl // S4 - Light Tan with Gold and Silver Pearl // S5 - Golden Wheat with Gold Pearl // S6 - Midtone Slate with Silver Pearl // S7 - Rich Grey with Multicolor and Silver Pearl.

And the bottom row the essential mattes (M1-M7): M1 - Matte Warm Chocolate Brown // M2 - Matte Midtone Brown // M3 - Soft Matte Midtone Tan // M4 - Creamy Matte Beige // M5 - Soft Light Taupe // M6 - Ashy Dark Brown // M7 - Suede Black.

My favourites shades from the palette are S3, S5, S7 and M2 and M6. You can see a makeup look I created with the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette HERE.

20140413 180946 Smashbox Full Exposure Palette

The formula of the matte shades is beautiful; they are really smooth, long lasting and perfectly blend-able. I do have to say that the formula of the shimmers isn’t quite as pigmented and they are probably best layered over a primer because they are a little prone to fall out due to their slightly drier texture. I found the best way to apply the shimmery shades, is to press down rather than sweep the shades across the lid. Oh and you can also dampen the matte formulas to create your own liquid liners.

What makes this palette great is the large range of nude matte shades in contains. For example I adore my Urban Decay NAKED palettes but the ratio of nude to shimmery shades isn’t as good making them less versatile to use.  With the Smashbox Full Exposure palette you can create so many different looks; from natural daytime makeup to a more dramatic night time look, making it a perfect everyday palette. Plus ideal to take on holiday with you!

The Smashbox Full Exposure palette is £36.00 and available now from www.smashbox.co.uk or at your local Boots store. Do you like the look of this palette or have you tried it yet?
