How to: 1 Step Easy Gel Nails at home

I am a big fan of gel / shellac nails (as seen here and here) but getting your nails done at the nail salon regularly is not cheap. Even though gel nails have become more accessible in London in the last few years, with lots of simple local salons offering a full shellac/gel manicure for around £25 it still means it’s not something I get done all time because the cost does add up. But because they are so long lasting (1-2 weeks) it does make it rather tempting ;)

I’ve seen a few reviews and options for DIY Gel Nail at home kits and I was always very intrigued. So when I got the opportunity to review the Beauty Hair Chroma LED Lamp promising  1 Step Easy Gel Nails at home – I was like hell yes!

Superfacialist Rose Miracle Makeover Facial Oil

When it comes to removing my make up, I can be quite a lazy one. The basic Johnson Face Care Makeup Wipes (link) are usually my go-to product to remove my makeup at the end of the day. Easy and quick but am I really looking after my skin properly? Well, when I was on skiing holiday a few weeks back, one of my friends gave me a little friendly ‘lecture’ that I should be looking after my skin better. She has the most gorgeous healthy skin and raved about this brand called “Superfacialist by Úna Brennan” so we ended up having a bit of girly time-out discussing products, cleaning our skin and doing face-masks.

The product I fell in love with and ended up getting for myself as soon as I got back to London was the Superfacialist Rose Miracle Makeover Facial Oil. It’s a “a superb dual purpose ‘wonder-blend’ of aromatherapy oils ideal to pre-cleanse, hydrate and calm dehydrated, sensitive skins.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection

Makeup artists Sam and Nic Chapman, more famously known as Pixiwoo are probably the reason I got into makeup. In my teens, makeup wasn’t really of interest to me (aside from the occasional 90s blue mascara haha). It wasn’t until my early 20s when I started working at a corporate firm where I had to wear makeup that I realised I had no idea what to do with eyeshadows, liner etc. So I decided to get on YouTube and people like Pixiwoo, Tanya Burr and MakeupByTiffanyD taught me how to apply products, what brands were best ones to use, how come up with new looks and in the long run inspired me to start my own blog!

Since starting their YouTube channel in 2008, Sam and Nic Chapman have become world-wide famous for their videos (for example; their recent winged eyeliner for hooded eyes is a real goodie to watch), plus they run makeup courses and have started a brush line called Real Techniques.

Real Techniques was launched in 2011 and was focussed around unbelievable brush quality paired with professional, interesting, fun education from Sam and Nic. They have videos showing you how to use each brush in detail (LINK). More recently they launched their Bold Metals Collection which is just stunning!  These luxe brushes offer high performance with super soft bristles that feature shred-resistant properties and advanced pick-up and release of makeup. But more importantly, they look so cool.

This month, Burberry introduced its newest addition to their women’s fragrance collection. Burberry Brit Rhythm For Woman – Floral Eau de Toilette is inspired by music and features British model and actress Suki Waterhouse at the heart of the campaign.

MAC Antiqued Eyeshadow

When it comes to eyeshadows, I am always most drawn to golden, bronze and coppery shades because they really make my blue eyes pop! Some of my all time favourites for this already are MAC Twinks (as seen here), MAC Tempting, MAC Amber Lights (as seen here), Urban Decay Baked and Smog (as seen used here and here) and MAC Woodwinked and All That Glitters. But I recently discovered a new shade that I am totally hooked on now. Let me introduce you to MAC Antiqued!

MAC Antiqued is a rusty, coppery brown with a veluxe pearl finish eyeshadow. The texture is super smooth so it applies like a dream, it is highly pigmented, versatile and it is great for both day or night makeup looks. It’s been my go-to shade these recent winter months because it’s such a beautiful warm deep colour that even on it’s own easily creates a stunning coppery smokey eye.
