In Spring Jacava released a range of new shades to their 2014 collection. I got sent a sample of the shade ‘Red Velvet’ to try. Jacava Red Velvet is a beautiful deep burgundy gloss with a rich, red velvety undertone. It’s a little vampy but still classic making it perfect for every day and every season. The shade came out a bit lighter in the photos, in true life it’s a bit deeper in colour.
This was two coats (applied in a bit of a rush) and the application is lovely – smooth and no streaks or uneven areas. This dries well, looks glossy and shiny, and lasts well. I love this kind of deep red shade! Do you?
Jacava polishes can be bought online at Jacava.com and at Amazon UK.
I love it when beauty and charities come together and Clinique has always been a bit supporter of this concept. And this February actually marks 10 years for of their Kiss It Better appeal with the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. This month Clinique, supported by House of Fraser, are doing their bit again in raising money to fund research into the causes and treatment of childhood cancer.
For 2014, Clinique has created a new A Different Nail Enamel for Sensitive Skins in the shade “Kiss it Better”. This limited edition shade is a vibrant hot pink that has a beautifully balanced formula which maintains a high gloss, streak free finish whilst being gentle on sensitive skins. Wearing this nail polish on the weekend made me feel like spring had arrived, it’s such a fun colour! Oh and one of the other things I love about Clinique’s nail polishes is the brush; they make applying the lacquer a dream.
“Kiss it Better” will be sold exclusively at House of Fraser stores nationwide and online at www.houseoffraser.co.uk and www.clinique.co.uk during February. For each nail enamel sold, 50% of the retail price (£12) will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Children Charity.
There are also plenty of other ways to get involved in the charity campaign. For example treat yourself to a new Clinique lipstick or lip gloss from House of Fraser and £2.00 from each item will be donated to the appeal. I am a big fan of the Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Glosses (a previous review here) with Currant, Ginger and Apricot being some of my holy-grail glosses.
And in celebration of the 10 year anniversary, Lulu Guinness has now joined in the campaign, teaming up with Clinique to to create two exclusive sets from which 100% of the RRP will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
As part of my December Glossybox I received a new full sized Seche One Quick Coat Nail Polish. Last year I tried one of their polishes in a lovely signature red shade (review here). And it’s like GlossyBox just know exactly what kind of nail polish shades I love because this mushroom coloured lacquer, appropriately named Portobello is right up my street!
Seche Portobello is a brown tone taupe créme shade with a glossy finish. This is just two coats and no top coat, nice and easy! The formula is smooth, opaque and quick drying. I really love these kind of taupe shades in winter. Some of my other favourites are; OPI Over The Taupe (review here) or Chanel Particulière (review here).
You can buy Seche Portobello (£9.95 for 15ml) or one of their other Seche One Quick Coat Nail shades at LookFantastic here. Do you like the look of Seche Portobello or what is your favourite taupe nail polish?
