Back in October 2013, Avon launched a new luxurious collection to their makeup range. Avon Luxe offers a range of mascaras, liquid eyeliners, skin-matching foundations, eyeshadows and lip glosses and lipsticks. The Luxe collection is about quality products from only £6!
Let’s have a quick look at the Avon Luxe Couture Creme Lipsticks shall we? They silk-infused, packed with pigment (for excellent coverage), nicely moisturising and with a little hint of shine in each of the 8 shades to deliver a ‘plumping’ appearance. Here are three lovely lovely shades from the Avon Luxe Couture Creme Lipstick collection; Designer Red, Pink Ruffles & Polished Rose.
Isn’t the packaging nice? Designer Red is a very true vibrant red and would suit people with most skin colouring and perfect for a night out. Pink ruffles is a very bright watermelon pink shade and Polished Rose is a shimmery rose shade with a hint of coral and a pearlescent finish.
Overall I have been quite impressed with these lipsticks. The formula is very creamy and gives your lips a lovely pigmented cover with a slight shine whilst also keeping your lips from drying out.
UK readers can find Avon Luxe Couture Creme Lipsticks at www.avonshop.co.uk for £9.50, link to buy here.
Have you ever tried any Avon lip products before?
I love wearing red lipstick and even though the selection of shades out there is huge it can be quite tricky sometimes to find the perfect red lipsticks for the right look. So when you find a new favourite, it sure is a happy moment! Some of my current favourites already are MAC So Chaud (review here), MAC Lady Danger (review here) and Collection 2000 Queen of Hearts (review here).
But when I saw these gorgeous campaign images of Estée Lauder’s new Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick range, I instantly fell in love with that red lipstick! Model Carolyn Murphy wears the shade Envious in the shoot and to me it just looks like the perfect Hollywood glamorous red.
The new Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick range promises intense colour (that lasts for up to 6 hours) hydration and a pigmented bullet that sculpts lips, making them appear plumper and more defined. There are 20 new shades in the collection across 4 categories – Nudes to Browns, Pinks to Berries, Corals to Red and Mauves to Plums.
For me, red lipstick is my go-to when I need an easy “dress-up” look because it’s so simple and classic. This is me the other weekend wearing the new Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in the shade Envious which is described as a warm, bright poppy-red.
How to re-create this look? These are the products I used; Face: Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation in 1C1 (link) // Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer // Bourjois Maxi Delight Bronzer (review here) // MAC blush in Melba – holygrail blush for me (review here) // Note: my eye makeup looks a lot darker in these photos than it really was because photos were taken at night quickly before I went out – Eyes: MAC eyeshadow in the shade Cork (all over the lid) // MAC eyeshadow in the shade Espresso lightly along the lower lash line // L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Blackbuster Intense (to apply a winged line along the upper lash) // 17 VaVaVoom Mascara // Lips: Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick in Envious (link) // Necklace is the Gloria Luxurious Crystal Choker from Maison Miru (link & as seen here)
Aside from being the perfect classic red to me, what’s most appealing about the Pure Color Envy lipstick is its creamy and rich formula. It is super long-weaering but it moisturises your lips rather than drying them out which is better for long days and nights. Plus it applies so smoothly that you don’t need a lipliner or brush – you just swipe it on and you’re good to go – no bleeding outside the lip lines. I also love the chic and convenient magnetic closure meaning no lid coming off in your handbag!
I really love this colour and formula and I’ve had lots of compliments about it when wearing it. Do you like Envious or have you tried any of the new Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks yet?
Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick (£24 – link) is available at Estée Lauder counters and www.EsteeLauder.com now.
I have been eyeing up MAC Lady Danger lipstick for a few months now but kept telling myself; you already have quite a few red lipsticks Roz, you don’t really need another one. But, you know, this one girl at work wears it all the time (because, yes I asked her what shade it was…) and it just kept reminding me how much I loved the look of it. So a few weeks ago when I was browsing the duty free MAC store before boarding my flight I just couldn’t help myself; MAC Lady Danger had to be mine!
MAC Lady Danger is described as a ‘vivid bright coral red’ which is pretty accurate. It’s definitely a bright and modern shade that truly packs a punch. It screams bombshell and is very Gwen Stefani I think. It’s quite similar to one of my other favourite red lipsticks MAC So Chaud (review here) but Lady Danger is probably a bit less orange and more a classic red with fresh orange undertones.
MAC Lady Danger has a matte finish but I found it not as drying as some other mattes I’ve tried. The formula is long lasting, creamy and intensely pigmented. You can easily wear it for 2-3 hours without needing to re-apply and (unless you have really dry lips) you shouldn’t need a balm or anything over the top.
I am really glad I added this lipstick to my collection, MAC Lady Danger is a phenomenal shade and is perfect for a night out on the town with that little black dress or just for the days where you want to be a bit bolder! Rock those red lips I say…

Following on from the success of their cult Chubby Sticks range (read my review here) Clinique is now releasing a new line and this time round their crayon style lipsticks will be INTENSE! The new moisturising lip colour balms will feature a new fuller coverage formula that will give you bolder colour pay off.
Clinique Chubby Stick Intense will be available in 8 shades: Curviest Caramel, Chunkiest Chili, Heftiest Hibiscus, Mightiest Maraschino, Plushest Punch, Roomiest Rose, Broadest Berry, and Grandest Grape retailing at £16 each.
The chunky pens are perfect for applying on the go, because your simply twist up the base to dispense more product. Plus whilst now adding a more intense touch of colour to your lips the formula still contains the loveliest ingredients including shea butter, mango seed butter and jojoba seed oil to deliver plenty of moisture leaving your lips soft and soothed.
As mentioned there will be 8 shades in the range and lucky me was able to get my hands on two shades before they are released nationwide in mid-November.
Let me introduce you to Chunkiest Chilli and Plushest Punch:
Chunkiest Chilli is a slightly brown brick red shade and Plushest Punch is a bright fushia pink shade.
I have swatched both Chubby Sticks below; first swatched normally and then swatched slightly blended out for if you prefer a softer look as a glossy balm but still with plenty of colour pay-off.
Top: Chunkiest Chilli
Bottom: Plushest Punk
The bright punchy pink is definitely up my alley but when I first saw the brownish red Chubby stick I didn’t think it would suit me at all. However I was pleasantly surprised and quite like this more brownish natural toned shade at the moment for a chic autumn look.
If you are a fan of the original Chubby Stick formula but prefer something with a bit more of a kick then I’d say definitely check out the new Intense range when it comes out in November!
