Hello everyone! Mid-week again, even though for me there’s no real ‘hump’ to get over this week because I am currently on holiday. Well not really on holiday, but I have some time off between jobs so have gone home to the Netherlands for a week to relax and spend some quality time with my family. After a hectic few weeks, some R&R and quiet time with people that I love is just what my soul needed.

Quiet time also means; lots of time to think. I’ve realised that in life it is really all about your attitude! My dad’s favourite saying is “Make the most of it!” and I think that’s such great advice. All you can do is making the most of everything that comes your way and having a positive attitude. “Attitude is the difference between an ordeal and an adventure. Change your attitude. Change your world.” So even when you are given a difficult situation, simply turn it in to an adventure :)

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is that we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past; we cannot change the fact that people behave in a certain way; we cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is to play on that one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% of what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes.” – Chuck Swindoll

Be afraid, but do it anyway. Live anyway!

It’s mid-week again already! Time is flying by for me at the moment because I’ve only got 3 more days left at my current job. So this means I’ve been busy trying to finish everything off as much as possible – I want to leave with everything organised and ready, not having things a mess! When I finish on Friday (woohoo) I will have a weekend of fun times ahead in London with my friends,  and then I am off to The Netherlands for about a week to get some much needed rest & relaxing at home with my family. Home for me is the ideal place to unwind and feel at peace. I absolutely love being near the beach and because I haven’t lived in The Netherlands for over 12 years, it means I don’t have much of a social life there – which suits me just perfectly haha.

There have been a few up and downs in my life recently and seeing this quote reminded me that you know what? It’s totally OK to be afraid. We are all afraid – of so many different things; like change, being hurt, love, pain or new beginnings & that list could go on forever.

Be afraid, but do it anyway. Live anyway!

“My whole life I’ve been telling myself “don’t be afraid.” And it’s only now that I’m realising how stupid that is. Don’t be afraid. Like saying “don’t move out of the way when someone tries to punch you” or “don’t flinch at the heat of a fire” or “don’t blink”. Don’t be human. I’m afraid and you’re afraid and we’re all always going to be afraid, because that’s the point. What I should be telling myself is “be afraid, but do it anyway.” Live anyway.”

So, here’s what I know. I’m afraid. I’m terrified. But I’m also excited. The unknown awaits me. And so, although I don’t know what’s ahead and that’s scary. But I am going to live anyway, and who knows what I’ll find. But I can’t wait to find out :) Happy Hump Day everyone!

Good friends..

Hello everyone. I am sorry I have been a bit distant on the blog recently. I had a pretty busy weekend and then something happened that took me by surprise and has knocked me off balance. I don’t really like to go into too much personal detail on my blog – one, to give myself some privacy in a very social media active life, but also because I want to ensure my blog is mostly a positive place. So I won’t go into the detail of what happened but all I can say is that I haven’t felt the best and happiest in the last few days. What is amazing though about hard times in life, is realising  how amazing friendships are and how much your friends and family will do for you. In the last few days my friends (and family) have been a HUGE rock of support for me and I really can’t express enough how lucky and thankful I am to have so many amazing people around me that care about me and are there to help me when I am down.

 Good friends..

I am truly blessed and touched by having so many incredible people in my life that love me and are there for me whenever I need them, be it with cuddles, cooking me food, just listening to me or for making me smile again. Friends are the best, don’t you think? Happy Hump Day everyone!

Look at the stars

It’s that time of the week again for some mid-week wisdom. Love this quote below. I have to admit that’s one thing I really miss from living in a big city like London, not being able to see a bright sky full of stars! It’s amazing when you’re in the countryside or near the ocean and you can look at the stars and see this huge universe out there. It always makes me remember what a small part of the bigger picture we really are…

I hope you all have a great rest of the week, you’re over the hump! Happy Hump Day :)

Hooray, it’s midweek again! I already hinted last week that there was lots going on in my life at the moment and I can now confirm that one of those things is CHANGE. I accepted a new job at the end of last week and looking to start in early November. As much as I’ve enjoyed working for my current company – I felt I really needed to keep challenging myself and therefore that meant change to allow myself to grow.

“If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living.” ~ Gail Sheehy

I’m really looking forward to the change and challenges ahead and I am excited to start another chapter in my life with this new job. Here’s to change and growing! Happy Hump Day everyone :)
