Old ways wont open new doors

Old ways won’t open new doors..

Wow spring, or I could almost say summer has officially arrived in London. It’s been 22-23 degrees here in London this week; and I am absolutely loving it! I can’t believe it’s almost the end of April already actually, this year is flying by. The last few weeks have been busy and lots has been happening. And one of the biggest things that’s happened is probably that I have decided to resign from my corporate day job. Now this is not the first time I have changed jobs but this time I have accepted a new role that’s going to be quite a change from what I have been doing for the last few years. I am leaving the office world behind and going to spread my wings into the Fashion & Retail world focussing on marketing, branding, social media and operations for an up and coming optical / sunglasses brand. I am often a ‘play it safe‘ person but you know what I have learned over the years; old ways won’t open new doors!

The Four Agreements

Hello everyone. It’s that time of the week again! I’m feeling a bit snowed under this week; think it’s because of the two 4 day weeks and with Easter holidays in between, time is just flying by. I was in the New Forest with my family this weekend which was wonderful, but feel there is now quite a bit of life admin to catch up on.

Anyway, I came across ‘The Four Agreements’ by Miguel Ruiz the other day and think they are so simple, yet so powerful.

Be brave. Take risks.

Hello, it’s that time of the week again.  I am back in London after an amazing week in the snow with friends and am now focussing my attention on my life and career because I am looking to make some big changes in the next few weeks. Following your dreams and taking risks isn’t easy, but I think it’s necessary to live a happy and fulfilled life. This quote by Paulo Coelho really inspired me the last few days leading up to a decision I had to make. Risks are scary but experience is everything and it reminded me that really you’ve got nothing to lose by trying something new and exciting.

“Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience.” - Paulo Coelho.
Happy Hump Day everyone :)

To succeed in life, you need three things..

“To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone.” – Reba McEntire.
Isn’t this quote just so true!?

+ Wishbone:  having a dream, a wish, a want, a need or a goal. Something to provide motivation and an aspiration to strive towards! Having dreams and goals gives life a sense of meaning and purpose, and I think it’s so important to keep dreaming to inspire yourself.

+ Backbone: strength, determination and hard work are needed to keep you going to achieve your goals. Having a backbone also means you are able to stand your ground and defend yourself when the going gets tough. Always have strength and confidence in yourself – even when you’re down, to not give up and make sure you keep going or start again.

+ Funny bone: to be optimistic, energetic and positive towards things that happen in life. A funny bone allows you to enjoy life and gives you the ability to laugh at your mistakes. I think it’s super important to have a sense of humor and a willingness to look for the silver lining in every dark cloud. A funny bone will help you keep a smile on your face when you want to run, hide, or cry.

If only our eyes saw souls instead of bodies

It’s that time of the week again! I love this quote: “If only our eyes saw souls instead of bodies. How very different our ideals of beauty would be.” It’s interesting to think that if we could see souls instead of bodies, what would we actually think as being beautiful? I feel these days we too often pre-judge people on looks instead of getting to know them inside. As much as I try not to, I am probably still guilty of doing this myself occasionally. I need to remember that “true beauty is on the inside and the outside doesn’t matter.” And I feel this doesn’t only count for others because it also starts with changing how we look at ourselves and define our own beauty…

Happiness comes from within

It’s that time of the week again. Love all these quotes….Happy Hump Day!

“Realise as soon as possible that happiness does not initially come from boys or money or power. If you don’t feel good within yourself, the rest doesn’t really matter. So learn to put yourself first once in a while or you’ll be left standing alone in a sea of people you’ve already made happy without learning to teach it to yourself. And know that happiness comes from good friends, and love of family and the quiet honour of leading a good life. Happiness comes from within. So go get it on your own, and keep it for yourself.”
