I thought it was about time for another product love post! As a bit of a beauty addict and through having this blog, I get exposed to a lot of different products. Some I love, and others not so much. I’ve said before that I like to use this platform for sharing positive and not negative experiences, therefore mainly blogging about things, places and recipes I enjoy and love instead of ranting about something I don’t like. So, on that note, here are a couple of products I am loving at the moment.
Realised I hadn’t done a beauty post in a while, so here is a quick recent FOTD which is an easy summery and light golden look. I’ve also been loving the new Clinique Lash Power Feathering Mascara but I will tell you more about that in a bit..
FOTD products used: Vichy Dermablend Ultra Corrective Stick as concealer (review here) // Clinique Stay Matte Foundation // Urban Decay NAKED Flushed face palette in Native used the Bronzer, Blush and Highlighter (review to follow) // Eyes: Urban Decay Half Baked (all over lid) and Urban Decay Smog blended into the crease and along lower lash line – both of these eyeshadows are in the original NAKED Palette, which is still one of my holy-grail beauty products – read here why) // MAC eyelash curler // Clinique Lash Power Feathering Mascara in black // On my lips I am wearing Juicy Tubes in Fraise.
OK so now about the new Clinique Lash Power Feathering Mascara. What they say:
“Get lusher, fuller, longer lashes with Clinique’s NEW Lash Power Feathering Mascara. Always at the forefront of mascara innovation, Clinique’s NEW Lash Power Feathering Mascara features an advanced formula and innovative new brush to build full, plush lashes without flaking or smudging, yet removes easily with warm water. Look no further, lashes will be longer, feathered, defined and more beautiful than ever!”
Lash Power Feathering Mascara is the latest additional to Clinique’s Mascara portfolio and was initially developed especially for humid Asian environments to ensure it’s resistant to tears, rain, sweat, pool water, ocean water and humidity. In other words, this super long-wearing, 12 hour formula will not smudge or flake! Yet, it can easily and gently be removed with warm water.
I think this is a lovely every day mascara, because it gives you nice feathery and soft looking lashes for a wearable, flattering day time look that lasts and with genuine ease of removal. It’s probably not the right mascara if you are looking for big dramatic evening lashes but it’s perfect to pop in your holiday bag or for natural, smudge free lashes for your work outs.
Clinique Lash Power Feathering Mascara is allergy tested, 100% fragrance free, safe for sensitive eyes and contact wearers and is available inBlack Onyx and Dark Chocolate at Clinique counters now for £18.00 / €23.00 (link). Do you like the sound or look of this mascara?
Most of the time we can all do with a little ‘awaking’ fix and my go-to for that would be Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Concealer. Note, this is not a concealer but more an eye-cream that has the power to brighten the appearance of the entire eye area. Plumping hydration makes thin eye-area skin appear less transparent and the cooling massage tip refreshes tired-looking eyes.
The key ingredients in Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector are Vitamin C and Mulberry Root works to help minimise the appearance of darkness. Caffiene and Green Tea Extract helps soothe and calm irritation from environmental aggressors and protect against oxidative damage.
I use this in the morning by gently massaging the cooling tip across the undereye area. You don’t need a lot of product and upon application the area underneath my eyes looks brighter, less puffy and feels refreshed.
I still use concealer on top to conceal my dark circles as part of my makeup routine because this is more a tinted moisturiser like formula but if you use Clinique Even Better Eyes regularly it promises to reduce dark circles by 30% in 12 weeks.
Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector is available at Clinique counters nationwide and retails at £29 (link). Have you tried this product yet or what do you like using to give you ‘even better’ eyes?
In general I tend to prefer powder blushers over cream blushers (with the exception of a few goodies like the Topshop cream blush in Neon Pink or Flush – link). I find that with powder blush I usually get a smoother and more natural looking finish. However Clinique recently launched their brand new Cheek Pop blushers and I just can’t get enough of them! Clinique Cheek Pop promises to provide ‘a natural blush look with absolutely no trace of powder or buildup on cheeks’.
Clinique’s Cheek Pop innovative formula begins as a smooth liquid which is then transformed through a slow baking process into a completely new distinct powder feel that is luxuriously lightweight in texture and silky smooth to the touch.
The Clinique Cheek Pop range is available in 4 shades to give you that “just-pinched” perfection; Ginger Pop, Berry Pop, Peach Pop and Plum Pop.
From L-R: Clinique’s Cheek Pop in Peach Pop, Berry Pop & Ginger Pop. Oh and how pretty are the daisy design compact cases for these blushers?! To apply I just lightly swirl my blush brush into the compact to pick up the colour and then sweep this onto the apples of my cheek, gently blending the colour towards the cheekbone and temple. I find the formula quite pigmented so remember that a little goes a long way and it’s easy to build up if you want a more vibrant effect.
Products used: Clinique Stay Matte foundation in #9 (loving this foundation!) // Paula’s Choice Soft cream concealer (link) // Clinique Cheek Pop in Berry Pop (link) / Bourjois Maxi Delight Bronzer // MAC Paintpot in Rubenesque applied all over the lid // MAC Tan Pigment applied to the middle of the lid // Smashbox Full Exposure Palette (link) matte Nude colour blended into the crease and the darker matte natural shade applied to lower lash line // Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara // Estee Lauder Smashing Pink Lipgloss (as seen here).
Clinique’s Cheek Pop is available now at your local Clinique counter or online at www.clinique.co.uk for £16.50. Do you like the look of these Cheek Pop’s?
I love it when beauty and charities come together and Clinique has always been a bit supporter of this concept. And this February actually marks 10 years for of their Kiss It Better appeal with the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. This month Clinique, supported by House of Fraser, are doing their bit again in raising money to fund research into the causes and treatment of childhood cancer.
For 2014, Clinique has created a new A Different Nail Enamel for Sensitive Skins in the shade “Kiss it Better”. This limited edition shade is a vibrant hot pink that has a beautifully balanced formula which maintains a high gloss, streak free finish whilst being gentle on sensitive skins. Wearing this nail polish on the weekend made me feel like spring had arrived, it’s such a fun colour! Oh and one of the other things I love about Clinique’s nail polishes is the brush; they make applying the lacquer a dream.
“Kiss it Better” will be sold exclusively at House of Fraser stores nationwide and online at www.houseoffraser.co.uk and www.clinique.co.uk during February. For each nail enamel sold, 50% of the retail price (£12) will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Children Charity.
There are also plenty of other ways to get involved in the charity campaign. For example treat yourself to a new Clinique lipstick or lip gloss from House of Fraser and £2.00 from each item will be donated to the appeal. I am a big fan of the Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Glosses (a previous review here) with Currant, Ginger and Apricot being some of my holy-grail glosses.
And in celebration of the 10 year anniversary, Lulu Guinness has now joined in the campaign, teaming up with Clinique to to create two exclusive sets from which 100% of the RRP will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
