Best Dressed Oscars 2013
On Sunday the 85th Academy Awards took place in LA. I always love seeing what the stars wear at the most hyped up awards show of the season but I have to say that in general I was a little bit underwhelmed by the red carpet looks this year. However here a quick outline of my best dressed at the Oscars 2013.
My favourite would have to be Jessica Chastain in Armani Privé. She looks so elegant and like a bono-fida movie-star! The gold gown fits her beautifully and suits her porcelain complexion. The red lips and her incredible curls finishes off the look perfectly!
Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior! She won the Oscar that night for best actress and I loved the film Silver Linings Playbook so I felt her win was well deserved. Her dress is a total knockout and she kept the rest of the styling and accessories simple to let this dramatic gown to all the talking. I also loved the sparkly necklace bit attached to the dress at the back. As beautiful as the dress was; it did cause her to tumble on the stairs when going up to accept her award but I love Jennifer; she just laughed it off! She seems a great down-to-earth girl, and her post winning interview cracked me up (see video here).
Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta. Normally I am not that keen on too much ruffles and frill but I loved this silver grey dress. It was gorgeous from the back with the long sweep and I bet it made her feel like a princess :)
Naomi Watts sparkled in a one-shouldered Armani Prive gown! She was incredible in ‘The Impossible’ so her nomination was very well deserved. I like the dark beaded sequins and the different and modern feel of this dress. Hair and makeup was kept simple which I think was appropriate with this kind of ‘look at me’ dress.
Other notable mentions are for Charlize Theron in Dior Couture (even with her short shaved hairstyle I think she is still one of the most beautiful woman in Hollywood), Kerry Washington in Miu Miu and Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab.

Best Beauty Looks from the 2013 Grammy Awards
Have you seen the red carpet photos from the 2013 Grammy Awards show? Here a quick post on what I thought were the Best Beauty looks. For me, Rihanna was the ultimate Grammy Beauty Queen! Ever the chameleon, Rihanna looked exceptionally romantic with her hair in perfect golden ombré waves while rocking a bold red lip that perfectly matched her stunning custom Azzedine Alaia dress.
Some of my other favourite beauty looks were…
1. Alexa Chung brightened up her adorable floral Valentino frock with a splash of red lippy. She looked simply sweet and effortlessly indie chic! 2. Beyonce also went for a red lip as a pop of colour against her (very on-trend) monochrome jumpsuit. Love the sleek wrapped low ponytail. 3. Jennifer Lopez rocked a super tight twisted top-knot which drew the attention to her Cleopatra inspired graphic eyeliner. 4. Taylor Swift looked angelic in a cream J.Mendel gown with silver detailing, completing her sophisticated look with her hair swept into a plaited up-do. 5. Karlie Kloss opted for a shimmery grey/blue smokey eye to enhance her stunning bright blue Michael Kors frock. Loving the wavy bob hairstyle too! 6. New mum Adele looked radiant and stayed true to her retro look with a classic updo and winged out liner with lots of false lashes.

Best Dressed: 2013 People & Critic Choice Awards
This week both the 2013 People’s Choice & Critic’s Choice Awards took place in Los Angeles. Here are my best dressed picks from the red carpet.
Emily Blunt is absolute perfection in this white Miu Miu dress! The back of the dress, the flawless makeup, the red lips and the glamorous hair…just WOW!
Lea Michele sparkled in this pink Elie Saab dress. The mix of lace and sequins is cute and the colour is just so fun. Her legs look smokin’ hot and I really like the purple makeup (she even manages to pull off purple lashes!) to complete her look.
Taylor Swift was a sexy vision in white in this daring low plunging gown by Ralph Lauren. The dramatic bronze makeup and turquoise earrings completed her essemble perfectly.
How cute is Julianne Hough’s sparky number! Her make up is impeccable and love her fun and messy bob hairstyle.
Noami Watts looked amazing at both award shows where she was nominated for Best Actress for her outstanding performance in the film The Impossible. I watched this movie on Sunday and admit that I haven’t cried so much at a movie for ages! A very touching and intense story about the 2004 Tsunami; so if you go and see it (which I truly recommend you do) make sure you bring a box of tissues!
Jennifer Lawrence in a Prabal Gurung gown with leather detailing and a sheer train. Loved her edgy yet elegant look.
Two other honourable mentions needed are for Amy Adams and Helen Hunt. Both look beautiful. The white and navy Grecian high split gown is sexy and really compliments her lovely porcelain skin. Helen shines in red; the lace detailing is stunning and how incredible is her body for her age; she turns 50 this year!
Who were your favourites of these Awards shows? I can’t wait for the Golden Globes and Oscars. I just love award season :)
