Instaweek – My ski break photo diary

Hi Everyone! I am back in London again and it seems I brought the weather with me, because it’s been rather cold here and even snowing a bit for the last two days. As you might know, last Tuesday I flew to Geneva for a mini 5 day ski break in France with my parents. We rented a small apartment in France in the ski resort of Morzine, which is conveniently located at only 1 hour 15min drive away from the Geneva airport.  For the first two days the snow came down in the bucket loads which was great because it meant there was plenty of snow on the ski slopes but it did make it hard to see where you were going at times haha. Luckily after two days the sun started to make an appearance and we were able to enjoy the amazing views over the Alps while speeding down the ski slopes! Morzine is part of the The Portes du Soleil ski area which is made up of 12 linked Alpine resorts in France and Switzerland; providing us with 650km of skiing and one liftpass for all of it! I’ve skied since I was a little girl and as much as I am not a huge fan of the cold – for skiing I am willing to bear it ;) Here a little photo ‘instaweek’ diary from my ski break…

Taking a ski selfie on the slopes / Overlooking Châtel from Avoriaz. Seriously this ski area is SO massive. We hardly did the same run twice in 4 days and still did not manage to cover all of it! / Soaking up the sun during a lunch break along the slopes/ Warming up stop where we couldn’t resist indulging in French chocolate and banana crepes, yum!

These little hand warmers are my lifesavers when I go skiing – I pop them into my gloves and they keep my hands from freezing for the whole day / There had been so much snowfall that the trees all looked so beautiful covered in white / See?! Lots of snow, the amount of snow on that little hut made me laugh :) / After a long day skiing I would normally spend my evenings drinking tea, reading a book and eating chocolate. For me this wasn’t an apres-ski party trip but more a relaxing holiday to ski and spend time with my parents – which was just what I needed!

It’s always a good day when you start it with lots of Nutella / Pretty icicles melting away in the sunshine / The sun was out so smiles all around / Morzine at night time

Cheese Fondue was always one of my favourite meals when I was younger so when in France; I say bring on the bread, the gooey melted cheese and start dunking away – YUM  / Taking a walk in the beautiful white winter wonderland / Overlooking the village of Morzine / I think I pretty much ate my body weight in cheese during this holiday and I am a lover of all cheeses but have to say goats cheese and honey is one of my favourite food combo’s – have you ever tried this? Trust me it’s UH-mazing! You can see more photos of my trip on my instagram account @dutchessroz – follow me here (link)

Oh and it’s also that time of the week again….

My Instagram iPhone Cases & Giveaway!

One of my favourite smartphone apps is definitely Instagram and if, like me, you love it then you can follow me at dutchessroz. A few months ago I stumbled across this website called Castagram where you can create a personalised iPhone case from your own Instagram photos. The website is super easy to use, so straight away I started playing around with the various design options. First off, you select the iPhone model that you have, then you pick the type of design you want for your custom iPhone case and then it is just a matter of choosing your favourite images and dragging and dropping them to create your perfect case!

Besides using your personal Instagram pictures, you can also choose to upload any photos from your computer. So I decided to create an iPhone case with some of my favourite quotes, photos and motivational text images!

Prices start from $39.95 (approx £25) and they offer FREE worldwide shipping.

Merry Christmas to you!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! Here some Instagram photos of my last few days! I’m celebrating the holidays with my family in The Netherlands but we also made a quick overnight trip across the border to Germany to browse around the Christmas markets in Münster.

Enjoying the Weinachtsmarkt in Germany. Lights everywhere, glühwein, lebkuchen and bratwurst!
I baked a traditional Dutch Christmas bundt cake! Christmas tree bauble, feeling festive in my reindeer socks and Christmas crackers for the table decorations.

Preparing Christmas dinner; we have some vegetarians in my family so this year it’s Jamie Olivers cranberry & pistachio nut roast as one of the many courses for our Christmas day feast. Last night we went to the Christmas midnight mass and today I did even more baking; the most delicious gooey chocolate crinkle salted caramel cookies ever… (recipe to follow!)

A quick run at the beach earlier today and now I am relaxing, eating and drinking with family…
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with family and loved ones! Xoxo
