The Wildflower Cafe Notting Hill

I recently discovered a fab new cafe in Notting Hill. The funny thing is that I used to live just around the corner from Chepstow Road and in this slightly odd looking purple building (just up the road from The Prince Bonaparte) used to be a Thai restaurant that wasn’t quite on my faves list. So I didn’t pay much attention the spot. Silly me it proves, because little did I realise that in November 2013 the Thai left the site and it turned into the ‘The Wildflower Cafe’ which is a wonderful cafe / flower shop!

The Wildflower Cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and they are committed to using seasonal, fresh produce and creating beautiful meals from scratch. The lilac exterior of the building seems to have remained but now the outside is adorned with lovely flowers and plants that draw you into the cosy cafe / bistro. Oh, and if you happen to spot their delicious home baked cakes in the window then you are totally doomed – you will won’t be able to resist walking past the Wildflower Cafe!

Chorizo, Spinach and Ricotta Frittata

A frittata is very much like a quiche, but without the pastry making it healthier! I love frittatas because; they are super simple to make, you can add almost anything you want (great for using leftovers) and it’s delicious to enjoy as a quick weeknight dinner or a leisurely weekend brunch! I made this Chorizo, Spinach and Ricotta Frittata for my family for Easter while we were enjoying cottage life in the New Forest.

Brunch at The Delaunay

The Wolseley easily rates as one of my top places in London for breakfast or brunch (you can read my review here) but I’d not made it yet to The Delauney which is its sister restaurant on 55 Aldwych, on the edge of Covent Garden. Just like the Wolseley, the Delaunay is all-day café-restaurant inspired by the (Austrian) grand cafés of Europe. Talking about brunch at The Delaunay, on their website they say; brunch is “cheerful, sociable and inciting. It is talk-compelling. It puts you in a good temper, it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow beings, it sweeps away the worries and cobwebs of the week.” And I think that is the best sum-up of brunch, it’s without a doubt one of my favourite past times ever and always puts me in a good mood.

Three Ingredient Healthy Pancakes!

Did you know that tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday, or also better known as Pancake Day? Pancake Day is the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. It was traditional to eat pancakes on this day because they contain fat, milk, butter and eggs which were forbidden during Lent. Now, Pancake Day or not – I just love a good pancake so thought I’d treat you to a great little recipe for this today!

But it gets better….because what if I told you that this pancake recipe doesn’t contain much fat or naughty things at all? These pancakes only include three simple ingredients and no flour or oil/butter whatsoever! There are a lot of these banana  & egg style pancake recipes floating around on the internet (I was inspired by this recipe from The Skinny Confidential) and I was sceptical at first too, but wow they are super tasty and filling! So what are you waiting for, check out my three ingredient healthy pancakes recipe below.
