I have egg-cellent news for brunch lovers in West London; there’s a new hot spot in the area! Egg Break opened in July and is a joint project between Soho House and the team behind the Hoxton Hotel. They’ve teamed up before with winning places like Hubbard & Bell and Chicken Shop!
Egg Break is just near Notting Hill Gate on Uxbridge Street in a space formally occupied by the small ‘Thai Break’ restaurant. As much as that Thai was actually nice so it’s sad to see it’s gone – I am a bigger lover of good brunch spots and I’d heard good reviews from friends so I couldn’t wait to try it out this weekend.
Egg Break’s menu (as the name might suggest) is all about eggs! They are open Wed – Sun 7am to 6pm and so it’s very much a breakfast, brunch or lunch spot. We were there rather early on saturday morning so we got the breakfast menu instead of the full menu but all the options are pretty cracking! Think eggs classics like eggs on toast with a variety of sides, full english and egg benedict. Or branch out a bit more by trying the polenta and fried eggs, avocado on toast with poached eggs, broken eggs with chorizo or maybe a bun with pork belly and a fried egg?
I ended up going with the broken eggs with chorizo, roast tomato and spring onions and my friend got the avocado on toast with poached eggs. Worried I wouldn’t satisfy my usual avocado craving I also got a side of avocado and we shared some hashbrowns on recommendation by my friend.
The service was friendly, the food delicious and the cafe small and cosy. I can’t wait to go back another time to explore the rest of the menu. Does Egg Break sounds like your cup of tea? I say if you love eggs then this place is definitely going to hit the spot for you!
