Healthy food lovers; listen up! I recently discovered a gem of a health foodie spot that you need to visit. The Wild Food Cafe is tucked away in the colourful courtyard that is Neal’s Yard. I love that place, it’s such a hidden little treat in buzzing Sevendials. For a not so healthy spot there go to Homeslice (review here), it’s pretty bombdiggity! Anyway, back to the Wild Food Cafe. Now this is a raw-centric, vegan and vegetarian hot spot using local and fresh organic ingredients.
When you get to the electric and colourful Neals Yard, just look for the Wild Food Cafe signs and follow the stairs up to their casual/cafe dining room. They don’t take bookings and it’s a popular spot so you might need to wait be seated but usually it doesn’t seem to take long. They are open Sunday & Monday 12-5pm and Tuesday – Saturday also for dinner from 12pm-10pm.
Everything on the menu sounds delicious while being good for you at the same time. I mean what’s not winning about that? They also do great smoothies, the ‘raw cacao powder, cacao butter, fresh coconut milk, dates, maca, algaroba, coconut cream & maple syrup! Food wise I went for one of their artisan superfood specialties, the Wild Hummus which is; organic sprouted chickpea hummus (flavours change every day – I had red pepper) with a beetroot & carrot salad served on raw sundried tomato & sunflower seed crackers. Oh and I may have added a side of grilled organic halloumi cheese….
The hummus, yum. The halloumi, um I love this salty cheese so much. The crackers, absolutely obssesed with them. They are so tasty I want to learn how to make (or buy them) so I can enjoy them all the time. At the moment they don’t sell it in their shop side of the cafe yet but I am hoping they will in the near future!
Have you ever been to Neal’s Yard before? If not I fully recommend a visit and pop into the Wild Food Cafe while you’re at it. It won’t even do your waistline any damage! Hooray :)
