Afternoon Tea at the Ritz London

On Sunday me and one of my best friends had a quite the posh afternoon; indulging in Afternoon Tea at the Ritz hotel in London. There really is no more quintessential English ritual than the ceremony and serving of Afternoon Tea and what better place to do this then at one of the fanciest hotels in London. Afternoon Tea is all about getting a little bit dressed up, sipping lots of tea from proper china and eating way too much food!

The Ritz is known as being one of the top places in London for Afternoon Tea, and this was proved when the first booking we were able to get in early December was for the 1^st of March! The Ritz London certainly oozes sophistication and style and everyone in the Palm Court restaurant was all dressed up according to the ‘smart’ dress code!

The Ritz offers an extensive selection of 17 different types of teas to choose from and is served in beautiful (obsessively polished) silverware. Once you’ve chosen your preferred tea (I had Rooibos) they bring out a big three tier stand filled with traditional Afternoon Tea treats. You get a selection of freshly cut finger sandwiches, freshly baked plain and raisin scones with strawberry preserve and clotted Cornish cream, followed by a delectable selection of afternoon tea cakes and pastries! A little tip; don’t eat too much before going here because you want plenty of space in your tummy for all this deliciousness! Here some photos of our time at the Ritz…

Scones are one of my favourite naughty treats; especially when you spread them with LOADS of clotted cream and jam. I’m embarrassed to say that we even got a second serving of scones, not that we were hungry or anything but when the waiter offered us extra’s, I mean how could we say no to that?!
